DoWhileLoops is the ongoing musical project of Chris Clemons, a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based out of Metro Detroit, Michigan. Clemons began playing the trumpet while a student in Indiana, performing with local jazz, symphonic, and marching bands. Inspired by the siren song of rock and roll, he picked up the guitar a few years later and started forming pickup bands.

After completing a degree in Music Performance on the trumpet from Weber State University, Clemons co-founded Shaky Trade, a six piece funk/rock band in Ogden, Utah. 10 years with the project ensued, resulting in a plethora of live shows, opening slots for Soulive and John Scofield, and three studio albums. Clemons collaborated with several Utah artists during this time as well, including Rich Wyman, Jebu, and Danielle Vaughn. Clemons also formed the Charls Grodn Quartet with Jed Keipp and Ryan Conger, performed with Utah saxaphone legend Joe McQueen, and participated in Jim Kuemmerle's tribute to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, Our Work Is Never Done.

Moving to Seattle in 2018, Clemons retreated into the studio, titling his new project DoWhileLoops. The name is taken from a concept in his parallel background as a software developer, wherein a task is continuously done in a loop while a certain condition is met. "For me, music is a lifelong, iterative process. As long as I'm upright, I should do music. Finding out what the current iteration sounds like is part of the kick," says Clemons. Now based in Michigan and settled into a proper home studio, DoWhileLoops seeks to combine Clemons' widespread musical background, encompassing rock, jazz, folk, and classical influences.
